A Chartbook of International Labor Comparisons: United States, Europe and Asia
Department of Labor, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy. The statistical indicators included in the comparisons are; gross domestic product per capita, labor market, competitiveness indicators for manufacturing and other labor related indicators.

BP Statistical Review of World Energy
An annual review by BP, the site provides statistical data on energy trends worldwide. Information provided includes consumption, production and prices. Reports are available for downloading and printing.

Centradex
Centradex provides trade information on 200 countries, all 50 U.S. States, and millions of companies worldwide. Users may search via company name, product keywords, Harmonized Codes, NAICS Codes, SIC Codes, or an alphabetized list of products. The search results are then graphically displayed with the top 10 import and markets worldwide for the search term. Other displays and information can be obtained such as import and export trends, numbers of units sold to various markets, and the price per unit (PPU) and dollar values of sales.

CIA: World Factbook
The World Factbook is produced annually by the Central Intelligence Agency for the use of US Government officials, and the style, format, coverage, and content are designed to meet their specific requirements. The documents contain all vital information and statistics, under the following headings: Geography; People; Government; Economy; Communications; Transportation; Transnational Issues; and Defense Forces.

Doing Business Indicators
The Doing Business Indicators compare the economies of 155 countries based on a wide variety of statistics, from credit availability to cross-border trading. Also available for download are reports highlighting different aspects of international
business development.

EarthTrends
This resource is provided by the World Resources Institute. It provides a rich source of information on the environment, social and economic trends in the world. Information, presented as searchable databases, data tables and country profiles cover a range of topics from economics to business and the environment, energy and resources, environmental governance, water resources and much more. (Free registration required).

EU: Statistical Office of the European Communities
This is the official statistical website of The European Commission. Its statistical data covers economy, social conditional, industry, trade, agriculture, transportation, environment, and science of EU and its member countries. The website is in English, French, and German (Site is slow to load).

FAOSTAT
Food and agriculture related statistics from this UN agency. Provides a wide set of time series data on production, trade, food balance sheets, fertilizer, land use, etc. The database is searchable by country, category, etc.

Geohive: Global Statistics
This site provides data mainly on the population of regions, countries, provinces and cities. Some statistics on economic factors like wealth and infrastructure are also available. The site is divided into three main parts: One dealing with the whole world and its regions, a second with all major countries separately and a third with rankings (the most, largest, longest, wealthiest, etc.).

Globalis
This site provides graphical representation of various statistics on topics like education, environment, human development, water, population etc.

IEA Energy Statistics
A data query service from the International Energy Agency, providing a variety of data, surveys, statistics, and reports on the current state of energy production, consumption, and reserves in the world.

IISI World Steel in Figures
World Steel in Figures is a publication of the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI). The site has statistical data showing current and historical trends in world steel production and consumption.

IMF: World Economic Outlook Database
A comprehensive database of key indicators, the World Economic Outlook Database is created during the biannual World Economic Outlook (WEO) exercise. The data is the product of a comprehensive interdepartmental review of world economic developments, which draws primarily on information the IMF staff gathers through its consultations with member countries.

International Data Base (IDB)
The International Data Base is provided by the U.S. Census Bureau's International Programs Center (IPC). It is a computerized data bank containing statistical tables of demographic and socio-economic data for 227 countries and areas of the world.

International Labour Organization: Labor Statistics Database
This application allows the user to access data from the International Labour Organization Bureau of Statistics. The resource includes country level labor-related data covering employment, unemployment, productivity, wages, injuries, and more. The database covers some 200 countries and includes information used to publish the Yearbook of Labour Statistics. Statistics are available from 1969 and can also be downloaded.

International Labour Organization: World Employment Report
The World Employment Report is the flagship publication by the ILO and examines the changing context in which women and men are trying to achieve income security for themselves and their families. However, the statistical annex for 2004-2005 is posted. The data include such items as global employment/unemployment and other key features of a global economy and its impact on labor conditions. International Telecommunication Union
Provides telecommunications information on a large number of countries, includes current BDT projects, lists of local providers and statistics regarding lines per inhabitants. Access "Telecommunications Industry at a Glance" information directly at the ICT - Free Statistics Home Page.

ITC - Country Market Analysis
A statistical database, provided by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), World Trade Organization (WTO) International Trade Centre, that can be browsed by using a drop-down menu to select a specific country. Each country page includes tables and graphs based on detailed trade statistics benchmarking the national trade (export and import) performance of the country, and provides several indicators on export supply and import demand. The trade statistics are available in web format, while all other analysis is provided in PDF documents.

NationMaster.com
Nationmaster.com is a tool that allows users to compare various statistics across nations. It offers many rankings ranging from the richest and most populous countries to most generous and most athletic countries, and provides these rankings in graphical format as well. Individual country profiles with maps, flags, and lists of major cities and states are also available.

OECD in Figures: Statistics on the Member Countries, 2007 Edition [pdf]
Released recently by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), this important fact-book presents 143-pages of valuable statistics about the 30 member countries that constitute the membership of the OECD [pdf format].

OECD Statistics
This link is the statistics portal maintained by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for member countries. It provides links to statistics of various categories including demography and population, development, finance, transport, and many others.

OECD: Statistics Directorate
The Statistics Directorate provides statistics on a myriad of topics such as ‘international trade in services’. Also, numerous publications are available like case studies, reports, and country surveys, among others. Finally, there are country-specific information including either statistics or publications.

OECD 2008 Factbook
OECD Factbook 2008 is the fourth edition of a comprehensive and dynamic new statistical annual from the OECD. More than 100 indicators cover a wide range of areas: economy, agriculture, education, energy, environment, foreign aid, health and quality of life, industry, information and communications, population/labour force, trade and investment, taxation, public expenditure and R&D. Data are provided for all OECD member countries with area totals, and for selected non-member economies.

OFFSTAT: Official Statistics on the web
This web site links resources that provide general and country-specific statistical information. The listed web pages mainly come from statistical offices, central banks, or government departments, and contain social, economic and general data.

Population Reference Bureau Data Finder
An interactive data query tool from the Population Reference Bureau, providing a wide variety of data including several variables under population, employment, health, education, and environment categories. It is also possible to see a complete Country Profile by choosing the 'PRB Country Profiles' link from the left menu.

Social Watch: Progress and Setbacks Country Reports
Social Watch provides a quick report on the present situation of each country listed for various social issues. They also track, by key indicator, the progress or regression each country has made from their condition the previous year. Lastly, they provide the country's status on treaties and conventions related to social issues.

This site is maintained by the University of Michigan. Resources are broken up into a number of different statistical categories.

UNCTAD: FDI Statistics by Country-Economy
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD); quick electronic access to comprehensive statistics on foreign direct investment (FDI) and the operations of transnational corporations (TNCs). Currently, FDI country profiles for 112 countries, brief FDI datasheets for 80 economies, and country fact sheets for 187 countries are available on this site.

UNDP: Human Development Reports
Indexes and statistics used in compiling the Human Development Report. Searchable by indicator or by country.

UNESCO: Institute for Statistics
Each year UNESCO collects statistical data on education, science, culture and communication in the UNESCO Statistical Yearbook. The website is an attempt to make the research and data more accessible and provides access to world education indicators which allows the data to be accessed by year, region, or country.

UNESCO: United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization
The site provides an easy to use overview of recent statistics in the domains of education, science and technology and culture and communication. The information is presented as either bullet point summaries of recent studies or large graphics.

UNIDO: Industrial Development Reports
A series of Industrial Development Reports (IDR) from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (Unido) that address crucial and emerging issues facing developing countries and economies in the global economy. The downloadable PDF documents that include a “Statistical Annex” are available in English, French and Spanish. Resource is also listed under the Publications category.

United Nations: InfoNation
InfoNation is an easy-to-use, two-step database that allows you to view and compare the most up-to-date statistical data for the Member States of the United Nations. In the first step you select country groupings or individual countries (up to six). In the second step, you select up to 6 statistics that you wish to view for these countries. Graphs will be generated for each of the statistics that you choose.

World Bank: Enterprise Surveys
The World Bank has created a special section on the web site dedicated to providing development data from their research publications. Based primarily on the World Development Indicators, an annual statistics publication of the World Bank, the website provides access to the data by country (across indicators) as well as by topic (across countries). All deliverables are in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format.

World Bank: World Development Report
The World Development Report is an annual publication of the World Bank that focuses on a different specific topic every year. In addition to detailed analysis and data on this specific topic, the report also offers selected World Development Indicators, statistical tables providing instant access to the most current data available on social and economic development in more than 200 economies. The complete report with statistical tables as well as previous editions are accessible online in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. The theme of the WDR 2007 is youth, focusing on those between 12 and 14 years of age. This report focuses on all the important changes and transitions involved in those years.

World Resources Institute
The World Resources Institute publishes relevant information concerning the economy, political conditions, and other topics regarding different countries. The articles has a myriad of articles dating from 2006 back to the 1980's. The web site provides access to an executive summary and the text of the report in PDF format (check the menu on the right). However, the entire report (primarily the data tables) is not available to download from the site.

WTO: International Trade Statistics
International Trade Statistics is an annual report that provides comprehensive, comparable and up-to-date statistics on trade in merchandise and commercial services for an assessment of world trade flows by country, region and main product groups or service categories. The overview explains the main features of trade for the past year, an outlook towards trade in the current year, global trade and output developments, and more. The entire report is available for download using Acrobat (PDF). Also listed under Journals and Publications.
