OVERALL COMMUNITY ATTITUDE
- Keep in mind that PariDebateCoach is a high school parliamentary debate community.
- Our purpose is to share, help and support others engaged in scholastic debate.
- Always display a positive, friendly attitude.
- Be respectful of others' opinions.
- Allow your fellow members to voice their opinions.
- DO NOT deliberately start arguments. Debates are great, as long as they remain respectful!
- Always try to give back to our community. For each time you find help here try to help someone else out in return.
- Give people time to respond to your requests. Most of us are full-time educators or students. Please be patient.
- Although you may consider yourself to be a Coach now, try to remember that we were all Rookies once. Take it easy!
- DO NOT make threats or implied threats towards other members -- even if you think it's fun.
- If you are going to post non-English on these forums, please also post an English Translation of your post.
INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR
- ALL discussion must be LEGAL, G-RATED AND FAMILY FRIENDLY. This rule applies to all forums as well as other areas including your profile and signature. Accidental violations of the G-rated rule will receive a warning, while flagrant disregard will result in a ban. Illegal content will be removed immediately and you will not get a warning, whether it's an intentional violation or not.
- DO NOT Make Inappropriate, Offensive, or Discriminatory Posts - including threats, harassment, swearing, prejudice, slander or deliberate insults/name-calling, or other negative remarks about ParliDebateCoach, its moderators and administrators, or your fellow members. Even if this is just your own personal opinion, RESPECT YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS!
- DO NOT drag another member's personal site into a forum discussion unless the discussion directly involves that site OR if the member brings his or her own site into the discussion first. There's no point in ruining a good debate by accidentally (or intentionally) offending someone with a personal comment.
- ParliDebateCoach believes in integrity and respects what other forums have to offer. Because we realize members of ParliDebateCoach may also be members of other forums, do not try to degrade or discredit other forums, their administrators and moderators, or their members. This includes slander and other offensive comments.
- Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed anywhere on ParliDebateCoach.
- DO NOT link to a commercial product/service unless you have been given permission in advance from the Convenor (Specifically: No links to cram schools will be allowed).
- Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.
- Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, or something similar.
- Please DO NOT embed cookies in your posts.
ABUSE POLICY
- 1st Offence - A polite Private Message from pointing out the Forum Rules, in addition to the editing or deletion of the post.
- 2nd Offence - Public warning on the message board plus deletion of post.
- 3rd Offence - Senior Staff will discuss and possibly delete the user from ParliDebateCoach.
- Depending on the situation, Senior Staff may bypass any and all of these steps and take whatever action is deemed appropriate.
MISBEHAVIOUR
- There are no excuses for breaking the rules. It doesn't matter if you were angry at the time and weren't thinking straight. It doesn't matter if you were only kidding around. If you break a rule, it does the same damage, regardless of your reasons for breaking it, and you will be punished all the same.
- Staff abuse will not be tolerated. As a staff member, your job is to help the people, not harm them. You may only use your powers for the purposes that they have been given to you for. There is no limit on how much you may be punished for this severe offence as this must be stopped at all costs to protect the people. This means that if you abuse your powers, there is a good chance you will be permanently banned.
- Harassing the administration about punishments is not allowed. The Adjudicators are only trying to do their job, and many times they have to make difficult decisions. You may post your opinion in the thread that announces the punishment, so long as you do not flame anyone. If this thread gets out of hand, it will be closed, and you may not complain elsewhere on the board, or by other means including, but not limited to: private messages, instant messaging programs, e-mail, telephone calls, and house visits. You also may not make threats against administrators (or other members for that matter...).
PRIVATE MESSAGE AND E-MAIL ABUSE POLICY
- DO NOT use ParliDebateCoach as a basis for spamming or scamming our members.
- We take PM/email abuse very seriously, and it will result in the immediate removal of your membership and ban of your IP address, without warning.
- Please make sure that you are posting for the good of the community, not just for the sake of self-promotion :)
- Please do not link to a commercial product/service unless you have been given permission in advance from the Convenor.
- Please refrain from posting affiliate links and press releases in our forums, unless you have been given permission in advance from the Senior Staff (Convenor, President, Vice-President).
- Polls are not allowed, unless you have been given permission in advance from the Convenor.
- Our moderators reserve the right to edit or delete any posts they consider to be 'spam'.
- If we find that you are spamming our community you will be banned and your IP blocked.
IDENTITY THEFT
- DO NOT impersonate anyone whom you are not, regardless of who the other individual may be. Identity theft is illegal and will not be tolerated.
MULTIPLE POSTS
- DO NOT post the same topic in multiple forums. If you are unsure of which forum a thread should go under, just state that in your post, and a moderator will move the thread to the correct forum. Multiple posts are unnecessary and will be deleted.
- DO NOT post the same question multiple times in multiple threads in the same forum. If no one responds to your question or request, just post a reply to the same message thread again to bring the message to the top of the list so folks notice it.
